Description:

Dear friend and/or Whitetip Project contributor, I just wanted to let you know that the whitetip project will be featured in a 12-minute segment on the National Geographic Channel this week.

The show should feature us measuring and photographing captive whitetips at the Maui Ocean Center, tissue-sampling wild whitetips with a speargun, and riding around on dive-scooters, all in that short little segment!

We had a really good time and a great crew doing the filming, so hopefully the segment will reflect that.

Filming took place around the Makena area on Maui this past March and is part of a one-hour special called "Dens of Danger" featuring scary animals that live in caves, holes, burrows, etc.

I tried to talk about the photo-ID project and our continued quest for photos as much as possible during filming, so hopefully some of that survived the editing process. They'll probably try to make whitetips look "dangerous," which isn't easy to do, but could be entertaining.

Anyway, I hope you all watch it and get excited about sending us more whitetip photos!!! We're still collecting them from all of the Main Hawaiian Islands.

Aloha,
Nick
